High Quality Photos
A selection of high-resolution potential photos for the drawing of your pet pastel portrait should be emailed to me for my review. I will then get back to you with my recommendation for the best pose.
A clear, detailed, well-lit photo allows me to highlight every little detail of your pet’s fur and features.

Portrait Layouts

I work on a first-come, first-serve basis, therefore, it is a good idea to allow plenty of time for a delivery deadline.
Upon receiving your dog portrait commission request, I will get back to you with a delivery date. This is dependent on the number of commissions I have on order.
Pet portraits make wonderful gifts, especially for Christmas or birthdays, so if you would like to request bespoke pastel pet portraits as gifts, please make sure there is enough time before the special date.

Packaging Pastel Artwork
Artwork is carefully wrapped in tissue paper and inserted into a sturdy tube to prevent creasing, damage, or smudging.
Upon arrival, it is best to have the drawing opened by a professional framer. If not handled carefully and protected, soft pastel drawings are easily smudged and smeared.
Framing Pastel Art
The chalk pastel needs to be framed behind glass with a mount to keep the glass off the pastel.
This prevents the chalk from touching the glass and damaging the drawing.
A soft chalk pastel drawing is very easily damaged by smudging. Protecting the paper and chalk will preserve your artwork for many years to come.

Soft Pastel Sticks
Soft pastels are by nature soft.
What does this mean?
With the rich color payoff, you can swiftly and effortlessly cover large surfaces. These are employed for the initial layers of a portrait as well as for adding soft backgrounds.
Another great use for soft pastel sticks is applying color underlayers.
Pastel Pencils
These are soft pastels, just encased in wood. This means you can sharpen the pencils to a sharp point in order to get your very fine lines and have more control of more delicate areas of your drawing.
Pastel pencil brands vary in terms of specifications and color. I like to use Winsor and Newton and Derwent in my work as they are high quality materials with true, rich colours.
These are excellent pastel pencils with a respectable “lightfastness” rating, allowing your drawing to last a lifetime, keeping its rich colours vibrant throughout.

The texture of pastel paper allows layers of pastel color to adhere to it.
